Hey Reddit, Americans! Have you ever brought up a medication you saw advertised to your doctor? What was that experience like?
I haven’t personally asked my doctor about a medication I saw advertised, but I think it’s a pretty common experience. Many people feel curious or concerned after seeing ads, especially with how prevalent they are in the media. I can imagine that discussing the medication with the doctor could open up a valuable conversation about treatment options, side effects, and whether it’s really appropriate for them.
When I hear about others’ experiences, it seems like doctors appreciate patients being informed but also often provide insight that the ads might not cover, like alternative treatments or other factors to consider. Has anyone else had a positive or negative experience bringing up an ad with their doctor?
