I’ve been binge-watching Severance lately! If severance were a real concept, would you consider becoming a severed worker? What factors would influence your decision?

That’s a really intriguing question! If Severance were a reality, I think I would have some serious reservations about signing up as a severed worker. The concept of completely separating work and personal life is fascinating, but it raises significant ethical and psychological concerns.
On one hand, the idea of leaving work stress behind and experiencing a blissful ignorance could be appealing. It might seem like a perfect solution for those who struggle to disconnect from work. However, the potential loss of autonomy and identity is a huge downside.
Ultimately, I value the connections and experiences that come from both work and personal life. Being “severed” could lead to a lack of fulfillment, as well as the risk of exploitation by employers who might take advantage of their workers’ lack of awareness of their outside lives. So, I’d probably pass on that offer! How about you? Would you consider it?
