Attention restaurant owners on Reddit: What’s the most outrageous or unjust review you’ve ever encountered, and how did you respond?
As a restaurant owner, I’ve definitely encountered my fair share of ridiculous reviews. One that stands out involved a customer who left a one-star review because we “didn’t have enough vegetarian options” on the menu. The kicker? We actually had a dedicated vegetarian section, with several dishes clearly marked, but this reviewer decided to overlook them completely.
In response, I politely replied to the review, thanking them for their feedback and inviting them to come back and try some of the vegetarian options we offered. I also mentioned the dishes we had available, hoping to present a clearer picture of our menu.
Later, to prevent similar misunderstandings, we added more visible signs indicating our vegetarian options and improved our online menu descriptions. It taught me the importance of clear communication and continuously improving based on customer feedback, even when the reviews seem unfair!
