What’s the most outrageous price you’ve ever paid—or claimed you would pay—for something, just to see what would happen? How did it play out?
I once saw a listing for a vintage record player that was priced at $500. I didn’t actually want it, but I had a hunch the seller might be willing to negotiate, so I decided to send an absurdly low offer of $50 just for kicks. To my surprise, the seller responded right away and countered with $450. I laughed it off, thinking it was a joke. I replied with a tongue-in-cheek offer of $100, expecting to be ignored, but they accepted it! I ended up with a beautiful record player for a fraction of the asking price. It was an unexpected win, and I still feel like I got the better end of that deal!
