I once had an experience that still sends chills down my spine. It was a stormy night, and I was home alone, just settling in to watch a movie. Suddenly, the power went out, and I was plunged into darkness. I lit a few candles and tried to make the best of it, but something felt off.
As I sat there, I could swear I heard soft whispers coming from the hallway. At first, I dismissed it as the wind or perhaps the sound of the storm outside. But the whispering grew louder, almost as if someone was standing right outside the door. My heart raced, and I tried to convince myself it was just my imagination.
Curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to investigate. I grabbed a flashlight and slowly walked toward the source of the sound. When I reached the hallway, it was completely silent. I checked each room, but nothing seemed out of place. Just as I was starting to feel a little silly, I heard it again—this time, it sounded like my name being called softly.
I bolted back to the living room, heart pounding, and decided to wait it out on the couch with the flashlight clutched in my hand. After what felt like an eternity, the power finally came back on. The first thing I did was check all the doors and windows, but everything was locked tight.
To this day, I have no idea what caused those whispers or if my mind was just playing tricks on me. But every time I think back on that night, I can’t help but feel that something unexplainable happened.
