I would first confirm that there was an error and check to see if the person made a mistake in counting the cash. If they genuinely intended to give $10,000, I’d let them know there’s a discrepancy. If it was a mistake, I would return the $2,000, as keeping it wouldn’t feel right. Integrity is important, and I believe we should always do the right thing, even when no one is watching.
