   The ability to listen to every piece of music ever recorded became increasingly impractical as recording technology and music production advanced. Although it’s difficult to pinpoint an exact moment, a few key developments mark the shift toward impossibility:

   1. Vinyl Era (1940s-1980s): With the advent of vinyl records and increased production, the volume of music began to explode. Each year saw thousands of new records being released.

   2. Digital Revolution (1990s): With the rise of CDs and, later, digital downloads and streaming, the sheer volume of available music skyrocketed. Platforms like iTunes and later streaming services like Spotify introduced millions of tracks, making it nearly impossible to keep up with new releases.

   3. Internet Age (2000s-Present): The emergence of independent artists and global music sharing through platforms like Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and social media further expanded the musical landscape. As of now, millions of songs are uploaded daily, creating an ever-growing ocean of music.

   Given these developments, it became impossible to listen to every piece of music ever recorded sometime around the late 20th century, with the situation becoming increasingly dire in the 21st century as the music catalog continues to expand exponentially. Today, it’s not just about the volume but also the diversity of genres and styles being produced globally.
