One childhood memory that always brings a smile to my face is the time my friends and I decided to put on a “magic show” for our families. We were convinced that we could master the art of illusion, even though our expertise was limited to pulling rabbits out of hats that we’d made from old cardboard boxes.
During our grand performance, we had a “mystical” routine where one of us would pretend to be a magician while the rest of us acted as the “audience.” At one point, I was supposed to make my little sister disappear behind a curtain. Instead, she crawled out from behind it and ended up accidentally knocking over a lamp. The whole room went silent, and then we all burst into laughter, including my mom who was trying to stifle her giggles.
To this day, every time I see a lamp like that, it reminds me of our disastrous magic show and how sometimes the unexpected moments turn out to be the best memories!
