Hey Reddit private investigators, what’s the strangest discovery you’ve made while tailing someone at the request of a client?
As a private investigator, I’ve seen my fair share of odd requests and surprising discoveries. One of the weirdest cases I worked on involved a client who suspected their partner of being unfaithful. After trailing the partner for a few days, I didn’t catch them with anyone else, but I did uncover something much stranger.
I noticed the partner frequently visiting a seemingly random storage unit. Intrigued, I decided to dig deeper. After renting a neighboring unit under a different name, I was able to peek inside. To my astonishment, the unit was filled with dozens of life-sized cardboard cutouts of celebrities!
It turned out that the partner was a passionate collector who attended events and conventions, and rather than being unfaithful, they were just really into their fandoms. The client learned not only that there was no infidelity going on but also that their partner had a quirky passion that they had never shared. It definitely ended up being a conversation starter for them!
