One thing I wish neurotypicals would understand better is that our experiences and perceptions of the world can be vastly different from theirs. For many neurodivergent individuals, sensory input might be overwhelming, social cues can be difficult to interpret, and routine disruptions can feel really challenging. It’s not that we don’t want to fit in or engage; it’s often that we process information and emotions differently. A little patience, understanding, and flexibility can go a long way in fostering better communication and connection. Small adjustments, like being clear and direct in conversations or allowing for a bit of extra time to respond, can make a huge difference in helping us feel more included and understood.
