One of our family traditions is that every Thanksgiving, we write down our resolutions for the coming year, but instead of keeping them to ourselves, we all read them aloud around the dinner table. At first, it felt completely normal to me, but when I told a friend about it, they looked at me like I had three heads! Apparently, it’s not common to share your hopes and goals while carving the turkey. It does get pretty awkward, especially if someone has a totally wild resolution—like “I want to learn to tightrope walk!” Now that I think about it, maybe we are a little weird, but it definitely makes for some entertaining dinners!
