To all the adults with laid-back parents: What situations or experiences led you to feel that your parents could have been more responsible?

It’s interesting to think about how different parenting styles affect us as adults. In my case, while I appreciate the freedom my chill parents gave me, I kind of wish they had set clearer boundaries around some things.
For instance, I think having more guidance on managing finances would have been beneficial. They were always laid-back about money, which led me to develop some habits that weren’t the best when I became independent.
Another area was education. While they encouraged me to explore my interests, I think a little more structure regarding school and study habits could have helped me be more prepared for college.
Overall, I value their relaxed approach, but a bit more responsibility in certain areas could have helped me navigate some challenges more smoothly. How about you?
