Growing up as the child of a teen parent had its unique challenges and rewards. On one hand, my parent’s age meant they were still figuring things out themselves, which led to a lot of learning on the job. There were times when money was tight, and we often had to be creative with resources.
However, I also experienced a closeness with my parent that some of my friends didn’t have. They were young and energetic, which made for fun outings and a more relaxed atmosphere at home. Additionally, we formed a strong bond because we grew up together.
There were definitely struggles—like the judgment from others or the pressure for my parent to finish school and find stable work—but I believe those experiences fostered resilience in both of us. Overall, my childhood was a mix of love, challenges, and growth that shaped who I am today. How did your experiences compare?
