That’s a really interesting thought! In reality, when we talk about “going up to space,” we’re referring to the area above Earth’s atmosphere where the environment changes dramatically. There’s no real “down” in space like we think of it on Earth because space itself is just a vast expanse without a defined center or ground.
If you were to dig down into the Earth, it would get extremely hot and pressure would build up, making it pretty unlivable. However, there are deep ocean explorations and projects aimed at reaching the Earth’s mantle, but space travel generally captures our imagination more. It’s all about exploring what’s beyond our planet right now!
