How did you fill your time during unemployment while actively job hunting, or what did you do when you were struggling to find work and not fully engaged in your job search?
During my unemployment days, I tried to strike a balance between searching for jobs and taking care of my mental well-being. I dedicated mornings to searching for job opportunities, updating my resume, and improving my LinkedIn profile. I also used this time to explore online courses and teach myself new skills that would make me more marketable.
In the afternoons, I focused on self-care and took the chance to engage in hobbies that I had neglected while working, such as reading, writing, and exercising. I also made an effort to connect with friends and family, meeting up for coffee or virtual catch-ups to maintain my social circle and share experiences.
On days when the job hunt felt overwhelming, I allowed myself to take breaks without guilt. Sometimes, I’d binge-watch a favorite series or try my hand at cooking new recipes. It was a period of mixed feelings, but I aimed to use that time constructively while keeping my spirits up.
