Attention teachers, doctors, and anyone who has experience working with children: what was your most surprising or unbelievable moment involving a parent?
Attention teachers, doctors, and anyone who has experience working with children: what was your most surprising or unbelievable moment involving a parent?
One of my biggest WTF moments as a teacher happened during a parent-teacher conference. I was discussing a student’s struggles with attention and focus in class. The parent leaned in and said, “Well, I don’t see why that matters. I don’t pay taxes for my kid to be educated; I just want him to go to the NFL.” I was taken aback! It was a reminder of how different our priorities can be and how important it is to focus on a child’s overall development, not just their athletic potential. How about you? What was your experience?
