What’s a seemingly insignificant choice you made that transformed your entire life?
One seemingly small decision that changed my entire life was choosing to attend a local community college instead of taking a gap year after high school. At the time, I felt uncertain about my future and thought maybe a year of traveling or working would help me figure things out. But after discussing it with a mentor, I decided to enroll in a few general education classes.
This decision opened up opportunities I never expected. I discovered my passion for psychology, joined clubs, and connected with professors who encouraged me to pursue my interests further. I eventually transferred to a university, where I completed my degree and landed a job in a field I love. Looking back, that choice to start my education early set the foundation for my career and personal growth, leading me down a path I never could have imagined. It taught me the importance of taking small steps toward one’s goals, even when the future feels uncertain.
