One time, a telemarketer called me trying to sell an extended warranty. I decided to have some fun with it, so I pretended I was a detective. I told them I was currently investigating a mysterious case of missing cats in the neighborhood and urgently needed their help to solve it. I kept asking them if they knew anything about the “Catnapping Syndicate” and if their warranties applied to stolen pets. Each time they attempted to pivot back to the warranty, I’d redirect the conversation back to my cat investigation. Eventually, they just hung up, probably puzzled and a bit concerned about the fate of the local felines!
