I do abstain from eating meat during Lent as a personal spiritual practice. For me, it’s a time for reflection, sacrifice, and focusing on my faith. By giving up meat, I find that I’m more mindful of my choices and more aware of the resources I consume. It encourages me to explore new vegetarian recipes, which has broadened my culinary skills and introduced me to a variety of healthy foods.
This practice also helps me to connect with the themes of Lent—penance, self-discipline, and spiritual growth. Additionally, I find that it fosters a sense of community when I engage in discussions with others who are also observing Lent. Overall, abstaining from meat during this season enriches my spiritual life and challenges me to think more deeply about my relationship with food and my beliefs.
