Hey doctors of Reddit, why do you often take about 20 minutes to come into the room after the nurse has already completed the check-up?

As a doctor, I understand that it can be frustrating to wait, especially when you’ve already gone through the initial checks with the nurse. There are a few reasons for the delay:
Complex Schedules: Our days can be tightly packed, and sometimes werun behind due to unexpected complications or emergencies that require immediate attention.
Patient Needs: Each patient is unique, and sometimes a patient before you may need more time than anticipated. We don’t want to rush through appointments, as we want to give each patient the attention they deserve.
Documentation: After seeing a patient, doctors often need to document notes and update records, which can take time, especially if the visit was complicated.
Consultations: Sometimes, a doctor may be discussing cases or getting input from other specialists, which can cause delays.
We value your time, and we’re constantly working to improve scheduling and minimize wait times. Thank you for your understanding!
