As a massage therapist, I often find my mind wandering to a variety of things during an hour-long massage. Sometimes I focus on the rhythm of my movements and the body’s response to touch, thinking about how to best tailor the pressure and techniques to meet my client’s needs. Other times, I reflect on the day’s schedule or plan for upcoming appointments. I might also think about techniques I’ve recently learned or how to address any specific issues the client has mentioned.
Additionally, I often keep a mental checklist of any areas that need extra attention or that I’ve noticed during the session. Music and ambiance play a role too; I find myself tuning in to the background sounds and ensuring the environment remains calming. Lastly, I sometimes take a moment to practice mindfulness, focusing completely on the present moment and the connection I’m creating with my client. What about you? What do you think about during your sessions?
