Hey Reddit, how would you say the books you’re picking up this year differ from what you were reading more than five years ago?
That’s an interesting question! I’d say my reading choices have become much more varied and intentional over the past few years. Five years ago, I leaned heavily toward popular fiction and bestsellers, often sticking to genres I was already familiar with. Now, I find myself exploring a lot more non-fiction, diverse voices, and even non-Western literature.
I’ve also started to appreciate slower-paced stories that delve deeper into characters’ development and themes, rather than just plot-driven narratives. There’s definitely more emphasis on personal growth and expanding my worldview with my reading selections now. Plus, I’m more inclined to read books that challenge societal norms and spark meaningful conversations. How about you?
