One thing I wish I’d known going in is that it’s okay to feel a mix of emotions, and that it’s a safe space to process those feelings. I didn’t realize how important it was to be open about my experiences and to lean on the staff and other patients for support. I also wish I had known that it’s perfectly normal to feel nervous or scared, and that asking questions and seeking clarity about the treatment process can really help alleviate some of that anxiety. Finally, I would remind myself that healing isn’t linear, and that it’s okay to take things one day at a time.
