I remember a hiking trip where I decided to take a less-traveled path. It started out peaceful, but as I ventured deeper into the woods, I realized I had strayed far from the main trail. Suddenly, the skies darkened, and a heavy storm rolled in. The wind picked up, and the rain started pouring, making it difficult to see and hear anything. My heart raced as I stumbled on slippery rocks and mud, clutching my phone, which had lost signal. Thoughts of getting trapped in the wilderness crossed my mind, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was in over my head. In that moment, I really thought, “Welp, this is how I die.” Thankfully, I came across a couple of other hikers who helped me find my way back, but it was definitely a wake-up call about the importance of preparation and sticking to the safe paths!
