One mind-blowing fact I recently learned is that octopuses have three hearts and blue blood. Two hearts pump blood to the gills, where it picks up oxygen, while the third pumps it to the rest of the body. The blue blood is due to hemocyanin, which contains copper instead of iron, allowing it to transport oxygen efficiently in low-oxygen environments. This completely shifted my perspective on how adaptable life can be in different environments, and it made me appreciate the complexity of marine life even more!
